A Phenomenological Study on the Music Therapists' Experiences in Music Therapy for Children Provided by Governmental Voucher Service
Yeo Hae-Ju

Abstract
This study is a phenomenological research to find out the music therapists' substantial experiences in music therapy for children, provided by government sponsored voucher social service program. Qualitative data were collected based on in-depth interviews with five music therapists who majored in music therapy and had experiences of voucher music therapy for more than three years. And that data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological research methodology. As a result of the analysis, 75 units of focal meanings were derived, and they were structured by 25 units of sub-components and 6 units of integrated components over time. The analysed data showed that music therapists had difficulties accrued from lack of music therapy cognition and a lack of social support towards voucher music therapists. That data also revealed their difficulty in building relationship with others and the difficulty in advancing a music therapy session program. Their experiences overcome by the music therapists has prompted them to reflect on motivation for overcoming difficulties and the process of overcoming difficulties. The results revealed that voucher music therapists have gone through numerous and diverse difficulties. However, the findings of the research show music therapists had motivated themselves to overcome their difficulties.
